Is this the right way to do this?
FYI links to Acai berry and other weight loss products WILL be reported as spam.
I have been trying for a couple of years to lose weight after my kids were born, have tried super low fat, low carb and everything in between. I have a gym membership that I never use (because the gym is 1/2 hour away) so I got the stand thing to turn my bike that isn’t road worthy into a stationary at home. That and I can plant my butt in front of the tv while I pedal (in addition to walking 2 miles a day four days a week)
I am cutting out sugar carbs (the last one to cut out is my fat free pudding snack), trying to increase the amount of steamed vegetables I eat, multivitamin, probiotics, etc.
Are these good meats? Pork loin, (skinless boneless) chicken breast, sliced turkey, ground turkey. I’m not a big fan of fish and avoid beef most of the time.
I only drink 2% milk but because lactose is just another sugar I am going to stick with a ton of water and my milk consumption will be limited to what I have to cook with.
Any other ideas (that are not acai berry or other miracle products - I have a heart issue) will be appreciated.
i live in the middle of nowhere so there is no “closer to home”. lol.
I tend to eat one kind of veggie all the time, get sick of it and move on to a different kind but they tend to all be steamed.
The bike has “Single-adjustment, progressive magnetic resistance smoothly increases as the speed increases”
You sound like you are on the right track. I was in same situation and have recently manage to lose quite a bit of weight.
I really found that all those “diet” “low fat” things didn’t really help, generally they just have more sugar in them.
Pork is fine as long as it is a lean cut, skinless chicken is good and turkey if it is lean.
Instead of cutting out carbs just try to eat them earlier in the day so you use the energy.
Steam veg can be boring don’t be scared to stir fry them in a small amount of good oil like olive oil, if they are more interesting you will be more likely to eat them. Have lots of little meals throughout the day and try to make the evening meal fairly small.
I brush my teeth after dinner and then I don’t feel like eating again just sip little bits of water if needed not too much ‘cos I don’t want to be peeing all night, lol.
The 2 miles is probably not quite enough try to do a little bit more, you say you have heart issue so check with dr but maybe you could do some squats, lunges etc when you get back from walk.
I have found adding foods high in fibre add bulk to my meal so you could try that. Fish is great for you, but just like you I physically cannot bring myself to eat it, except tuna, so to compensate I eat canned tuna (in water) with veggies. Watch the probiotics some of them contain more calories than they are worth.
Have a look online for other ways to incorporate veggies into your diet as it is easy to get bored of steamed vegetables.
Try adding fruit to your diet as well, can be fresh, tinned, dried (watch the calories in dried)
As for the bike at home, great idea but can you get any resistance on it? Why not join a gym closer to home?
Good luck.
Loin and round cuts are the best choices for meat because they have less fat. If you are going to cut out milk as well, make sure you are taking a calcium supplement! Or, get calcium-fortified lactose-free milk (I’m lactose intolerant and love Lactaid, pretty sure it comes in 2%). Have you considered joining Weight Watchers? It’s about $30 a month for the monthly program, or I think you can do limited time memberships. It teaches you what your body needs to function and what kinds of foods are best to help you achieve your goals, plus it emphasizes exercise and gives you TONS of really great (healthy) recipes. I’ve been using it for about 12 weeks now, and I’ve lost 11 lbs of super stubborn college weight. Weekly meetings/weigh/ins hold you accountable, plus there are no “forbidden” foods - just portion control and suggestions for healthy swap-outs for fatty ingredients in your favorite desserts. You won’t get immediate results, only healthy, steady weight loss. Just a suggestion!
